The New West Film Society was founded in 2011 by a passionate group of environmentalists who used documentary screenings to spark dialogue and action around local climate issues. What began as grassroots activism has evolved into a vibrant nonprofit organization dedicated to curating thought-provoking, diverse, and artistically rich cinema for the New Westminster community.
Rooted in values of accessibility, creativity, and community engagement, the Society brings people together through the power of film. In addition to producing our flagship annual festival, we host pop-up screenings, film trivia nights, and collaborative events year-round—always with a focus on inclusion, impact, and inspiration.
We recognize and acknowledge that we operate on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, specifically the Qayqayt and Kwikwetlem First Nations, with deep gratitude and respect.
